KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: The Ministry of Interior announced that a fire broke out at the General Administration of Correctional Institutions building in the Sulaibiya area, resulting in injuries to several police personnel as well as employees of a private company contracted to carry out cleaning work at the facility.

In a statement, the ministry said it received a report of the fire and that the competent authorities immediately took action. Firefighting teams from the General Fire Force, along with Emergency Medical Services, responded promptly and brought the blaze under control in accordance with established procedures.

The ministry confirmed that several police officers and cleaning company workers were injured in the incident and were transported to hospital for medical treatment. Their health conditions are currently under observation.

An official fire and injury case, registered under No. 2026/8, has been filed at the Sulaibiya police station.

The Ministry of Interior added that the relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and are taking the necessary legal measures.
