KUWAIT CITY, April 29, (Agencies): Minister of Social Affairs and State Minister for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqeel says the Board of Directors of Jabriya Cooperative Society and Fahad Al-Ahmad Cooperative Society, and two members of the management council of Al-Naeem Cooperative Society have been referred to the Public Prosecution for investigations on huge financial violations discovered in these cooperative societies, reports Aljarida daily.

Al-Aqeel told KUNA that this decision was taken based on a report submitted by the Cooperative Sector concerning the violations in the work of these cooperative societies, and was recommended by the higher committee headed by the ministry’s undersecretary. She revealed that two members were suspended from their positions for the same reasons, stressing that these violations were referred for protecting cooperative work in the country and will be sent to the concerned judicial authorities.

Meanwhile, the minister affirmed that cooperative societies have proven their capability to meet their responsibilities toward the Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates and their demands, adding that she is proud of the cooperative work in Kuwait and its success under the current circumstances in support of the efforts of the government to face COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, she issued two decisions – first to dissolve the board of directors of Jabriya Cooperative Society and second to appoint temporary directors for the two cooperative societies
