‘Finance’ rejects proposal to hike students stipend to KD300

KUWAIT CITY, May 2: Government’s Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee discussed during its meeting its mandate to research and study ways to develop higher education institutions and raise their efficiency in terms of academic and administrative affairs, reports Al-Qabas daily. The committee discussed ways to develop affairs at the Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and determine the mechanism for implementing the public universities law after its entry into force, and proposals to amend Law No. (10) of 1995 regarding stipends for students in universities, university colleges and higher education institutes. In this area suggestions have been put forward. With regard to increasing the student stipend to 300 dinars, the committee said the Ministry of Finance has rejected the proposals.
