Final Flight for Stranded Kuwaitis Scheduled Friday

KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that Friday will mark the final day for the return of Kuwaiti citizens stranded abroad under the ongoing evacuation plan coordinated with relevant government agencies.

Deputy Director General for Planning and Projects, Saad Al-Otaibi, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the plan, launched last week, facilitated the return of citizens who had prior reservations on Kuwait Airways and registered for repatriation by March 6. Initial flights departed from Heathrow Airport to Dammam, with passengers transported by land to Kuwait, followed by flights from Manchester, Cairo, and Amman. The repatriation operation will conclude with a flight arriving from Paris on Friday.

Al-Otaibi emphasized that the plan was implemented under directives from the Kuwaiti Cabinet in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwaiti embassies abroad, and other authorities, including the Ministry of Interior. He also acknowledged the support of Saudi Arabia in facilitating flights to Dammam and land transfers to Kuwait.

Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah visited the Authority to inspect its readiness, including shelters equipped with medical clinics, prayer rooms, and essential supplies in accordance with international safety standards. Chairman Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah briefed the Prime Minister on operational coordination between agencies at Kuwait International Airport, including the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Health, the General Fire Force, Customs, and Kuwait Airways.

Al-Otaibi stressed that the Authority’s shelters are fully equipped for extended use during emergencies, reflecting the agency’s commitment to safety and readiness for any situation.
