Filipino remittances from Kuwait rise 5%

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: Remittances from Filipino workers in Kuwait rose by five percent year on year during the first 10 months of 2025, reaching $512.3 million compared to $488.8 million in the same period in 2024, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to statistics compiled by Mubasher Info, based on data from the Central Bank of the Philippines, remittances from Filipino workers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries increased by 5.87 percent year-on-year during the same period. Remittances from the Gulf countries accounted for 96.74 percent of total remittances from Filipino workers in the Middle East, amounting to $5.05 billion compared to $4.77 billion during the first 10 months of 2024. The largest remittance from the GCC came from Saudi Arabia, totaling $1.86 billion, while the smallest was from Bahrain, at approximately $222.24 million.

According to the statistics, remittances from all six GCC countries increased, led by the United Arab Emirates with a growth of 7.74 percent, while the Sultanate of Oman recorded the lowest growth rate at around 1.88 percent. Remittances from Filipino workers in the GCC accounted for 96.74 percent of total remittances from Filipino workers in the Middle East, amounting to $5.22 billion in the first 10 months of 2025. GCC remittances also represented 42.84 percent of total remittances from Filipino workers in Asia, which reached $11.78 billion. Of the total global remittances from Filipino workers, which amounted to $29.20 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, GCC remittances accounted for 17.28 percent.
