Filipino couple caught selling pork; Foodstuff in toilet

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Fintas police in cooperation with the Ahmadi branch of Kuwait Municipality have arrested a Filipino couple for selling pork, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources, the arrest came after the Fintas police received information from a secret agent about the activity of the couple.

The man identified only as M., born in 1975 and his partner, identified only as J., born in 1974, were reportedly smuggling into the country pork overseas. The suspects were conducting their activity in Mahboula and were reportedly selling meat for KD 9 per kilo. The authorities have reportedly seized from their apartment 30 kilos of pork and referred them to the concerned authorities. They have been charged with carrying out illegal business activity.

Foodstuff in toilet: The Ahmadi Municipality during a crackdown on stores and commercial companies in Fahaheel, have shut down a restaurant for storing foodstuff inside a bathroom, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to sources, several former lawmakers and members of the Municipal Council tried in vain to put pressure on the inspectors not to take legal action. It has also been reported none of the workers carried the mandatory health card which is a must for food handlers.
