KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: The Meteorological Department has forecast scattered rain this weekend, starting from Friday evening, with intensity varying from light to moderate and occasional thunderstorms, while unstable weather is expected from Saturday evening. Acting Director of the department, Dhirar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the country is currently under the influence of a high-pressure system that gradually retreated from Thursday evening. This allowed a surface low-pressure system to advance from the southwest, deepening gradually along with another upperatmosphere low, accompanied by a relatively cold and humid air mass, leading to the buildup of low and medium clouds interspersed with some cumulonimbus clouds. The weather is expected to be unstable from Saturday evening, with gradual improvement forecast for Monday morning.
Winds will be southeasterly, turning later to northwesterly, moderate in speed but gradually intensifying, occasionally exceeding 60 km/h, raising dust, reducing horizontal visibility in some areas, and causing sea waves to rise above seven feet. On Friday, daytime weather will be cold to mildly cold and cloudy, with variable to southeasterly light to moderate winds ranging from 8 to 38 km/h, and a chance of scattered rain later.
Expected maximum temperatures will range between 16°C and 18°C, and the sea will be light to moderate, with waves between one and five feet. Friday night will be cold, partly to mostly cloudy, with southeasterly light to moderate winds occasionally intensifying to 12–40 km/h, accompanied by a chance of scattered rain.
Expected minimum temperatures will range between 11°C and 13°C, and the sea will be light to moderate, occasionally rising between two and six feet. Saturday’s daytime weather will be mildly cold to moderate and cloudy, becoming unstable in the evening, with southeasterly light to moderate winds occasionally intensifying between 15 and 50 km/h, raising dust, and a chance of scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder.
Expected maximum temperatures will range between 19°C and 21°C, and the sea will be light to moderate, gradually rising between two and seven feet. Saturday night will be unstable, mildly cold to cold, and cloudy, with southeasterly to northwesterly moderate to strong winds occasionally reaching 25–65 km/h, raising dust, and a chance of scattered rain, sometimes with thunder. Expected minimum temperatures will range between 10°C and 12°C, and the sea will be moderate to high, turning rough, with waves between four and eight feet. (KUNA)
