Fiber optic works begin across 36 areas

The ministry explained that it made this request due to the failure of the concerned bidder to pay the final deposit and sign the contract despite being notified in writing on two separate dates. The CAPT Board of Directors decided to postpone issuing a decision on the request and invited a representative of the winning bidder to attend its meeting. Article 66 of the aforementioned law grants CAPT the right to confiscate the initial deposit if the winning bidder fails to sign the contract and pay the final deposit within the deadline or withdraws for any other reason at any stage of the tendering process. The article also permits the imposition of any other penalty in accordance with the law.

On the other hand, the CAPT Board of Directors approved the request of the ministry to award the tender for the maintenance of street lighting equipment in the Capital Governorate to the bidder who met the terms and specifications at a total cost of KD1.349 million. Upon the approval of CAPT, the tender will be referred to the State Audit Bureau (SAB) for review and audit. The ministry also confirmed the start of fiber optic cable extension works in the main substations in 36 areas. This project will contribute to infrastructure development and raise the efficiency of the communication and control systems. Excavation and backfilling works are carried out from Aug 9-29. The ministry confirmed that this work will not disrupt the electricity services.
