KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: An Iraqi woman reported her Kuwaiti husband to Jahra security forces after discovering unlicensed firearms in their marital home, saying she feared for her life and wanted to protect him from legal consequences, a security source said.

The source said the Ministry of Interior received a report days earlier from the woman stating that her husband kept weapons at their residence. She expressed fears for her safety due to the firearms' presence and explained that she acted to shield him from the penalties for possessing unlicensed weapons.

Jahra security personnel were dispatched to the home, where the wife met them and handed over a 9mm pistol, confirming that other weapons were inside. Officers contacted the Deputy Attorney General, who authorised the arrest of the husband and the seizure of any additional firearms.

With the wife's assistance, security personnel searched the house and recovered two air rifles, the source added.

Officers waited for the husband to return from work before taking him into custody upon his arrival home. He was taken to the police station, where a case was filed and referred to the Public Prosecution. The husband's reaction to his wife's decision to report him remains unclear.
