KUWAIT CITY, Dec 25: In response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Muhanad Al-Sayer recently, the Fatwa and Legislation Department acknowledged that its systems had been hacked recently. The information in these systems were encrypted, due to which access to them was denied. The hacking attempt was tackled and the decryption was carried out with the cooperation of the concerned authorities, reports Aljarida daily.

Regarding the identity of the hacker, the Fatwa and Legislation Department said, “Immediately after the department was exposed to this breach, the Cyber Security Department was informed along with the State Security Department of the Ministry of Interior and the Cyber Security Department of the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority. The hacker was tracked down. The department was able to cooperate with the aforementioned concerned authorities and decrypt what the hacker encrypted. Neither the systems are now hacked nor the computers and the Internet closed.
