Fatima Al-Moumen’s Release Request Denied in Soor Street Tragedy

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13:  The Misdemeanor Appeals Court, has rejected the release request of fashionista Fatima Al-Moumen in connection with the Soor Street incident in the capital. The investigation officer has been summoned to appear at the session scheduled for January 25.

On October 25 of the previous year, the Misdemeanor Court had sentenced Fatima Al-Moumen to a three-year imprisonment in a case that captured the attention of Kuwaiti and Arab public opinion for two months.

In the same legal matter, the Kuwaiti court also mandated a one-year suspension of Fatima Al-Momen’s driver’s license for charges related to manslaughter, running a red light, and driving above the speed limit in a traffic accident. The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the intersection of Al-Soor Street and King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Road in Kuwait, resulting in the tragic death of two individuals and the injury of two others.
