KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26, (Agencies): Fathi Al-Saqer, the head of the Folk Arts Committee at the Kuwaiti Artists Association and a researcher in Kuwaiti rhythms, has been selected as a member of the judging panel for the inaugural edition of the "Al-Niham" Festival. This festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture's Theater and Performing Arts Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will take place in Dammam from October 27th to November 2nd.
Al-Saqer will represent Kuwait in this Gulf festival, and his nomination for the judging committee was made by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters. He expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the National Council, especially Assistant Secretary for Arts Affairs, Assistant Al-Zamil, for nominating him to be part of the judging panel for this Gulf festival. This marks a supportive step for the "Nihamah" art, reviving it for the current generation.
The festival's events will be held at the waterfront in the city of Dammam over seven consecutive days. It will feature the participation of two popular Kuwaiti troupes and three Nihami troupes from each of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The festival will witness the participation of the "Hamad bin Hussain" and "Maayouf Majli" troupes, along with guests from Kuwait and other Gulf countries.
This participation underscores the importance of cultural exchange and collaboration in showcasing the rich heritage and artistic traditions of the Gulf region. The festival promises to be a significant platform for artists to celebrate and promote the vibrant and diverse cultural expressions of the region.
