KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The Court of Appeals has ordered a man to pay his adult working daughter’s rent after ruling that he had abandoned his parental responsibilities and left her to bear life’s burdens alone. In its ruling, the court explained that the father had relinquished his paternal role by compelling his daughter to work under difficult conditions to meet her basic needs. He forced her to leave the family home and live independently, despite her limited monthly income of KD 720. According to the ruling, the daughter is required to pay KD 220 in rent, in addition to KD 247 in monthly car installments, leaving her with insufficient income to cover her basic living expenses. The court directly addressed the father in its decision, emphasizing that the circumstances of the case lacked any legal or reasonable justification.
