KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: About 52 graveyards in Kuwait are awaiting legal decision by a committee formed by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to determine the fate of these graveyards which have remained closed for over 50 years.The awaited legal decision is aimed at determining whether the land occupied by these graveyards can be converted into public parks, multi-storey car parks and other public utilities.Deputy Director General of Services Affairs at Kuwait Municipality Khalaf Al-Mutairi indicated that the eight-member committee was formed for conducting field survey of these graveyards as a preliminary step towards transforming them into various public utilities. He revealed that the tenure of the committee is three months, adding that it is supposed to refer periodic reports to the Director By Abdulnasser Al-Aslami Al-Seyassah Staff
