‘Fashionista’ allegedly jumps red traffic light, kills 2 in crash

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: While investigations are continuing with a “woman who is well-known in social circles” and is believed to be primarily responsible for causing the death of two Kuwaiti citizens and serious injury to two others, security sources told Al-Qabas daily that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid, is personally following up the investigations. The sources pointed out that the investigations into this accident, which occurred at dawn Thursday between two cars at the intersection in the Capital Governorate, revealed that the cause of the accident was the ‘Fashionista’ who had apparently jumped the red traffic light.

The source stressed that the instructions issued by the Minister of Interior are clear and explicit to apply the law to everyone without discrimination, “not tolerating transgressors or reckless people who endanger lives,” and not to allow any interference or attempts to influence the progress of investigations. The source told the daily after the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior received a report on the terrible accident the traffic men, emergency medical personnel and firemen went to the site removed the two men trapped on the back seat of the car and rushed them to the intensive care unit of a hospital and the remains of the two other men – the driver and the man in the passenger seat – were sent to Forensics.

The condition of the injured men is believed to be critical. The source explained the damaged vehicles were removed to facilitate traffic flow. The source pointed out that the accused was detained at the police station and charged with “manslaughter and crossing a red traffic light. The investigations are still underway to know the causes and circumstances surrounding the horrific traffic accident.”
