KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The horse racing event kicked off at the Hunting and Equestrian Club, under the patronage and in the presence of Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, as well as the management of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Racecourse.
The Governor was warmly welcomed by the Director of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Racecourse Eid Al-Walan, the Director of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Horse Racing Club Sultan Al-Athab, and Advisor to the Hunting and Equestrian Club, Mufreh Gharib Al-Mutairi.
During his visit, the Governor toured the racecourse facilities and organizational structures, while looking into the workflow, level of readiness, and technical and administrative preparations for the races. He praised the considerable efforts exerted to ensure the success of this traditional sporting event.
He then honored the winners, commending their exceptional performance and the high level of competition that embodied the authentic spirit of horsemanship.
He stressed that equestrian sports are the pillar of the Kuwaiti national identity and a living extension of the heritage of the forefathers. The Governor also lauded the vital role played by the Hunting and Equestrian Club in preserving this longstanding sport and strengthening its presence in Kuwait’s sporting and cultural arena.
Club officials presented a commemorative plaque to the Governor in appreciation of his patronage and attendance, asserting that his support is in line with the commitment of the State to champion heritage sports and its dedication to reinforcing their status in Kuwaiti society
