KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30: The Criminal Security Sector, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Farwaniya Governorate—specifically the Khaitan Investigation Division—has arrested two Arab expatriates accused of stealing gold jewelry from a residence. According to security sources, the perpetrators broke into the home with a high level of professionalism. Although surveillance cameras inside the house captured the incident, the footage was of insufficient quality to clearly show their faces, delaying their identification and arrest. The two men reportedly stole a quantity of gold jewelry before fleeing the scene.
The source stated that investigators immediately launched an intensive probe and developed a detailed plan to circulate descriptions of the stolen gold items to jewelry shops across the area. This measure helped narrow the search and ultimately tighten the net around the suspects.
“A report was then received from a jewelry store,” the source continued, “indicating that two individuals had attempted to sell part of the stolen jewelry. One suspect entered the shop disguised and wearing a face mask, while the other entered without covering his face—an act that later facilitated his identification.”
Upon receiving this information, security personnel used biometric facial recognition technology to identify the suspect whose face had been visible. He was subsequently arrested at his residence in the Khaitan area and later guided authorities to his accomplice, who was also apprehended.
During initial questioning, both suspects confessed to the theft, claiming that financial hardship had driven them to commit the crime.
The source added that further investigations are underway to determine whether the two men are linked to other unresolved theft cases. Their arrest forms part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to pursue criminals, safeguard property, and strengthen security across the Farwaniya Governorate.
