KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Ahmed Al-Sadi with Ibrahim Al-Farsi as secretary, has sentenced a prominent Kuwaiti woman and her Arab husband to two years in prison for drug use and attempting to bring psychotropic substances into Kuwait through Kuwait International Airport.
The court also imposed a fine of KD 2,000, with the sentence suspended for three years on a bail of KD 1,000, provided the couple demonstrates good behavior. Both defendants were acquitted of charges related to failing to declare KD 26,705 at the airport.
The defendants denied the charges, claiming the seized substances were prescribed for nerve treatment, while the undeclared cash represented winnings from a casino abroad.
