‘Family safety is non-negotiable’: Kuwait's Deputy PM checks on stabbed children, vows action

Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef checks on the condition of two children injured in a stabbing incident.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15, (Agencies): The Interior Ministry will not tolerate any acts or crimes that threaten the security of society and the safety of families, said First Deputy Premier Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah on Friday. His remarks came in the backdrop of his visit to two children who were injured after being stabbed with a sharp object by their mother. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, also Minister of Interior, emphasized the importance of strengthening family awareness and the responsibility of parents in protecting their children. According to a ministry statement, security forces apprehended the mother and took the necessary legal measures against her. The visit was to check on the children’s health and follow up on their treatment. The statement added that during the visit, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef was briefed on the children’s condition the by medical team in charge, commending their efforts. The statement indicated that investigations are underway and necessary legal procedures are on courses regarding the incident. Separately, the Ministry of Interior has denied the validity of reports circulating on social media claiming that a new system has been introduced to monitor communications, phone calls, and social media activity, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior affirmed that the information contained in the circulated post is completely false. It urged everyone to verify information, refrain from spreading unverified news, and obtain information only from official sources.
