False Witnesses, Forged Certificates, and Fake Lineage: How Syrian Brothers Secured Kuwaiti Citizenship

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Nationality Investigation Department has made a breakthrough in one of Kuwait’s most complicated forgery cases, uncovering how two Syrian brothers fraudulently obtained Kuwaiti citizenship using fabricated documents, false witnesses, and decades of deception.

How the Case Began

According to informed sources, the case came to light when investigators pursued the file of a Syrian man who had already fled Kuwait. He had acquired Kuwaiti nationality under Article 1, through forgery.

Investigators carried out DNA tests on his children, comparing them with the genetic fingerprint of a Syrian woman residing in Kuwait. The results confirmed that the woman was, in fact, their aunt—the sister of the fugitive forger. This revelation confirmed that the man falsely registered as the son of a deceased Kuwaiti citizen was in reality a Syrian, and his children had no connection to the claimed lineage.

How the Forger Entered the Citizenship File

The fugitive, born in 1957, allegedly inserted himself into the inheritance registry of a deceased Kuwaiti citizen in 1986. This individual had died childless, which created an opportunity for manipulation.

Using false witnesses and forged academic certificates, the Syrian claimed he was the son of the deceased Kuwaiti. He further alleged that his “father” had refused to register him in the citizenship file due to disputes with his mother. Based on these fabricated claims, the Syrian managed to secure Kuwaiti citizenship at the age of 29.

DNA Exposes the Truth

Authorities emphasized that the DNA results erased any lingering doubt. They proved beyond question that the Syrian woman in Kuwait was the children’s aunt, making her brother the fugitive forger. The investigation showed that the fraud extended for decades, passing citizenship to children and grandchildren under false pretenses.

A File of 52 Affiliations

Sources confirmed that the case involved 52 individuals registered under the forged file, including children and descendants of the forger. Legal procedures are now being completed to deal with these affiliations. Investigations are also continuing into the case of the other Syrian brother, who followed a similar path to obtain citizenship by fabricating a separate Kuwaiti lineage.

A Web of Forged Documents and Witnesses

The investigation also uncovered that the forger’s file contained a marriage contract, but the witnesses listed on the contract were themselves discovered to be forgers, whose nationalities had already been revoked.

Sources described the findings as proof that the entire case involved “one forgery group working together, all tied to the same deception.”
