KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: Saif Al-Shalahi, the head of the Falconer’s Association, expressed gratitude for the supportive role and generous care provided by the state in fostering the engagement of young Kuwaiti falcon breeders and enthusiasts in their traditional pursuits, reports Al-Rai daily.

He acknowledged the government’s efforts to cultivate an appealing environment for the preservation of this heritage-based hobby and to strengthen the connections among falcon breeders and enthusiasts across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

This acknowledgment coincided with the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 208 for the current year, in which the “Falconry and Traditional Folk Games Association” was officially declared by Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Sheikh Firas Al-Sabah. The association’s statute was published in the Official Gazette, and its board of directors was established.

Al-Shalahi emphasized that the association’s primary objective is to establish a platform facilitating communication and collaboration between falcon breeders and enthusiasts.

This mobile app aims to enable the exchange of opinions and suggestions, organize participation in national and international events related to falconry, and raise awareness among young individuals about the hobby and the preventive measures against diseases affecting falcons. The association will work in coordination with relevant authorities to provide the latest treatments and information on preserving these magnificent birds.

Furthermore, Al-Shalahi highlighted the association’s commitment to positively impacting the leisure time of young people by introducing them to traditional falcon games. It aims to promote awareness of wildlife preservation, particularly rare species, and create a conducive environment for them. The association also intends to propose the utilization of suitable areas within falcon species reserves in the State of Kuwait.

Another significant goal of the association is to contribute valuable statistics on the types and numbers of falcons in the country to relevant authorities. Additionally, it plans to conduct educational activities on falcon types, breeding methods, propagation, and conservation efforts, collaborating closely with pertinent authorities in the country to protect these majestic birds from extinction.
