KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: As part of ongoing security efforts to protect wildlife and preserve natural reserves, the Security Directorates Sector, represented by the Environmental Police Department, has arrested two individuals for illegally entering the Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve without a permit and engaging in falcon hunting activities.
The suspects were monitored inside the reserve, and legal action was promptly taken against them in accordance with the laws and regulations that govern access to protected environmental areas. These laws are designed to safeguard biodiversity and prevent any practices that could harm the natural ecosystem.
Article (105) of the Environmental Protection Law strictly prohibits introducing non-native animal or plant species into natural reserves, as well as any actions that may obstruct conservation efforts, harm wildlife or marine life, or damage the natural environment in any form. It also forbids hunting, capturing, or chasing wild animals within these protected areas.
Violators of Article (105) face penalties including imprisonment for up to one year, a fine ranging from KD 500 to KD 5,000, or both.
The two individuals have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal procedures.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to strictly enforcing environmental laws and taking firm action against any violations that threaten wildlife or natural areas. It also urged the public to comply with environmental regulations and obtain the necessary permits before entering nature reserves.
