Fake ‘New’ Tire Operation Busted in Shuwaikh

KUWAIT CITY, July 11: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Shuwaikh Police Station, has uncovered an operation allegedly refurbishing used tires and marketing them as new during an intensive inspection campaign.

Officials said inspectors tracked and monitored a container located in one of the open parking spaces before raiding the site. Initial investigations revealed that those operating the facility were storing used tires before cleaning, renewing and reconditioning them to make them appear to be new or of higher quality.

Authorities said the practice was intended to mislead consumers and influence their purchasing decisions by selling refurbished tires as new or nearly new.

The ministry said the necessary legal violations were recorded, and the case has been referred to the competent authorities to complete the investigations and take the appropriate legal action.
