KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: The Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently looking into four files of ‘fake’ graduation certificates said to have been issued by suspicious universities, reports Al-Qabas daily. The issue was referred to the Prosecution by the Ministry of Higher Education.

A knowledgeable source said the Prosecution will charge the suspects who work in government educational institutions with ‘embezzling’ public money because they are aware they carry fake certificates.

The Prosecution will demand that the court in the event the certificates are proven to be forged, to return the money as demanded by the law.

The source added the Prosecution has decided to summon them for interrogation after hearing the testimony of the witnesses and then issue a decision to detain them at the Central Prison or release them, based on their statements and documentary evidence.

The source added these files differ from what was announced previously concerning the falsification of the certificates of professors at the Public Authority for Application Education and Training. The source noted the Ministry of Higher Education has reviewed a number of recently accredited certificates, and it has been found they were issued by suspicious universities.
