KUWAIT CITY, May 8: Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested a 60-yearold Egyptian, identified only as Bayoumi, for impersonating a doctor and helping workers get sick leave, reports Al-Anba daily.
A security source said the arrest came after a Kuwaiti woman heard about the ‘doctor’ and filed a complaint with Major-General Mohammad Al-Shrahan, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department. The fake doctor reportedly charged KD 10 for one day’s sick leave.
Out of curiosity, the Kuwaiti woman contacted the ‘doctor’ and she met him in front of a hospital. For two days sick leave the man demanded KD 20 and after a few minutes returned with a sick leave paper duly signed by the doctor. Intensive investigations revealed the ‘doctor’ turned out to be an airconditioning technician.
The doctor who signed the sick leave paper said he knows nothing about the money and that he approved the sick leave because the Egyptian claimed the certificate was for his niece.
Further investigations revealed the Egyptian was getting the leave paper signed from different doctors all of whom said the Egyptian claimed the certificate was for one of his relatives or close friends
