Probe could not prove allegations

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Academic sources affirm that the file of fake certificates in academic institutions will be shelved, because investigation could not prove the allegation of lecturers holding fake certificates, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The same sources pointed out that the issue of fake certificates has become a tool in the hands of individuals issuing threats and inciting a feeling of uncertainty and lack of trust, adding no Kuwaiti academic figure has been charged for forgery and that lawsuits filed in that regard are investigated by the Public Prosecution and fact-finding committees.

They stressed the whole issue yielded no significant or successful result in the end, although eight lecturers at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) who earned scholarships have been stripped of their qualifications after obtaining PhD certificates from illusory universities.

However, the lecturers in question continue to perform their duties as lecturers, as they are basically appointed by one of the colleges, the sources noted. They reiterated some lectures at Kuwait University and PAAET have yet to present their thesis for PhD and Master’s degrees- in violation of the appointment conditions
