KUWAIT CITY, July 18: MPs Abdulkareem Al-Kandari and Abdullah Al-Turaiji commented on recent news that the negotiations on the extradition of former Director General of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) Fahd Al-Rajaan fell through. Al-Turaiji called on the government to issue a detailed statement to clarify the news.

Fahd Al-Raja’an, the former director of the Public Institution for Social Security a precondition for his extradition to Kuwait.

In case the information is true, it means the government is not serious in recovering the stolen money, protecting public funds and enforcing the court verdict against Al- Rajaan, he asserted. Al-Kandari urged the ministries of Finance and Justice to confirm or deny the information, as well as announce the reasons behind the failed negotiations and steps taken in this regard.

Al-Rajaan was convicted in absentia of stealing millions of Kuwaiti dinars from PIFSS and then he fled to England. Some activists posted on Twitter that it is strange the negotiations on the extradition of Al-Rajaan became complicated at the last minute. They believe some parties are not keen on the extradition of Al- Rajaan in order to implement the court verdict issued against him, because this could expose the accomplices of Al-Rajaan. They added it does not make sense that Al-Rajaan stole such a huge amount of public money without accomplices. By Saeed Mahmoud Saleh Arab Times Staff
