KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: The Workers Syndicate of Kuwait University (KU) has denounced the message sent by the Dean of Faculty of Medicine to the Department of Safety and Security to ban the entry of a staff member into the building and facilities of the faculty, reports Al-Qabas daily.Deputy Head of the syndicate Dr Manal Bouhaimad said the syndicate rejects such messages, indicating that it tries to justify the ban with the use of the words “for the public interest”. She said the dean is not authorized to ban employees who are not under his jurisdiction from entering the facilities, especially since it was the employee’s workplace.Dr Bouhaimad indicated that the use of the phrase “for the public interest” is rubbery and contains several interpretations, adding that she wonders how public interest will be affected by the presence of an employee at their workplace. She stressed that the university administration should take appropriate action against the dean for abuse of power and violating Article No. 54 of civil service system.
