The source disclosed that the ministry is now coordinating with several concerned government agencies to prepare 1,868 mosques and 12 Ramadan centers. The source said the ministry has started working with its Interior and Social Affairs counterparts to lay down a mechanism to guarantee the comfort and safety of worshippers while regulating the collection and distribution of donations during the holy month of Ramadan. The source added that the ministry will also adopt a mechanism to prevent begging and to protect the worshippers’ vehicles from theft. The source told the daily that the ministry will soon meet with its Interior and Health counterparts, and several other concerned entities to develop a comprehensive plan for the security of mosques and to provide all the necessary amenities for the worshippers throughout the holy month.

He said the Sector is equipping the mosques; while highlighting the need to achieve religious, scientific, and social goals in terms of preaching and imparting valuable lessons throughout the Ramadan nights.

The source also unveiled the ministry’s plan to issue a circular for imams and muezzins to refrain from sympathizing with beggars and violating the rules on the collection of donations, as well as prevent street vendors from selling in front of the gates of mosques and to report violations to the concerned authorities. The source confirmed that 135 mosques have been furnished and more than 200 requests to furnish mosques have been submitted so far; including the need for more than 200,000 square meters of carpet. He said the ministry is working hard to address all of these requests soon.
