KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The Council of Ministers will hold an extraordinary meeting on Monday chaired by His Highness Seikh Sabah Al Khaled to discuss number of recommendation made by Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies aimed to tighten the procedures to reduce the danger of the mutated Omicron strain of Coronavirus to prevent its spread in Kuwait.

Sources revealed the recommendations will be for all passengers arriving in Kuwait to conduct a PCR test upon arrival with home quarantine for a few days and conduct another PCR test after a few days to end the quarantine period if test result is negative, reports Al Qabas. The sources also stated the meeting will stress on health requirements especially in closed areas like Hotels, Malls, Cinema Halls, Transportation, Wedding Halls and Restaurants to hold the owner responsible for implementation of precautionary measures and all ensure that all the visitors stay committed to health requirements.

Although Omicron is now present in 89 countries around the world, shutting of airports, land routes will not be done in this current situation. To reduce its risk, a third dose will be recommended.

Earlier the Kuwaiti ministerial committee in response to the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) met at Bayan Palace on Sunday to look into the latest local, regional and international epidemiological developments of the fresh virus variant of Omicron. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, who doubles as head of the anti-Covid-19 panel.The committee weighed the latest reports from state bodies concerned with the health situation in the country, and listened to a briefing from Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah on the epidemiological situation in the country.
