TEHRAN, Jul 9: Multiple explosions were reported across southern Iran on Thursday, hours after the United States carried out fresh strikes on targets in Bushehr province, according to Iranian media.

Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that several explosions were heard around 2 p.m. local time in coastal areas of Bandar Abbas.

Separately, the semi-official Fars News Agency said residents in the city of Chaghadeh in Bushehr province also reported hearing several explosions. Authorities had not immediately released information on the exact locations or causes of the blasts.

Fars added that residents in other parts of Bushehr province had reported explosions earlier in the day following US strikes targeting locations in the province.

The developments come amid a second consecutive day of intensified military exchanges between Tehran and Washington after the United States launched attacks on multiple Iranian military and infrastructure targets.

The US Central Command said the latest strikes were intended to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The renewed hostilities follow the collapse of a Pakistan-brokered framework agreement reached on June 17 to end the conflict. On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump declared the deal was "over," effectively triggering a new round of military confrontation.
