Explosions Rock Mahshahr as Bandar Imam Petrochemical Facility Hit in Iran

TEHRAN, Apr 4: Air strikes targeted a major petrochemical hub in southwestern Iran on Saturday, with multiple explosions reported at facilities in the Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone, according to Iranian media.

The strikes reportedly hit parts of the Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex, one of the country’s key industrial sites, causing damage to some sections. State-affiliated outlets said at least five people were wounded in the attacks.

Officials cited by the Fars News Agency said explosions were heard across the petrochemical zone, while local authorities confirmed that multiple facilities were affected. Reports indicated that at least three companies operating within the zone were struck.

The Mehr News Agency also reported damage at the complex, though the full extent remains unclear. Meanwhile, the Tasnim News Agency said assessments of the damage are still ongoing.

Iranian media attributed the strikes to joint U.S.-Israeli action, though there has been no immediate confirmation from Washington or Tel Aviv. The incident marks a further escalation in tensions, with strategic energy infrastructure appearing to be among the targets.
