TEHRAN, July 19: Multiple explosions were reported Saturday in Iran's strategic southern port city of Bandar Abbas and on nearby Qeshm Island, with residents claiming that several missiles struck different locations, as Iranian military officials simultaneously warned the United States of a "decisive and devastating" response to any future attack.

Iranian official media reported that residents in parts of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island heard a series of loud explosions. Authorities had not immediately disclosed the cause of the blasts or confirmed whether they were linked to a military incident.

According to the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency, residents on Qeshm Island reported that between three and five missiles struck different areas of the island. In a later update, the outlet said at least six missiles had hit areas near Qeshm Island.

No official Iranian authority had confirmed the reported missile impacts, and there was no immediate information regarding casualties, injuries, or damage to infrastructure. The cause of the explosions also remained unclear as investigations continued.

The reported explosions occurred amid heightened regional tensions and came as Iran's military leadership issued a fresh warning to Washington.

Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned that any new military action by the United States against Iran would trigger a "decisive and devastating" response from the country's armed forces.

In a statement released Saturday, Abdollahi also reaffirmed his allegiance to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and pledged to preserve Iran's national unity.

"We remind the deceitful, criminal and oath-breaking American enemy that any aggression, coercion, expansionism or brutality will be met with a decisive and devastating response from the armed forces," Abdollahi said.

The developments add to growing uncertainty in the Gulf region, where Bandar Abbas serves as one of Iran's most important naval and commercial ports, while Qeshm Island occupies a strategic position near the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil shipping route.

Iranian authorities had not officially commented on the reported missile strikes or the source of the explosions at the time of publication. The situation remains fluid, with further details expected as official investigations continue.
