TEHRAN/ERBIL, May 25: Multiple explosions were heard in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Monday, with similar sounds also reported in nearby coastal areas, according to Iranian state-affiliated media.

Residents reported hearing several blasts in Bandar Abbas, while additional explosions were also noted near the coastal towns of Sirik and Jask. The exact location and cause of the incidents remain unclear, Iranian media outlet Fars News reported.

In a separate development, a rocket attack struck a camp belonging to an Iranian opposition group north of Erbil in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, injuring two fighters, Reuters reported, citing security sources.

The attack adds to rising regional tensions, as incidents involving cross-border strikes and unexplained explosions continue to be reported across parts of Iran and neighboring Iraq.
