TEHRAN, Apr 8: Several explosions were reported on Wednesday at energy facilities on Iran’s Lavan Island shortly after a ceasefire came into effect, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.

The report said the cause of the blasts at the refinery was not immediately clear. Separately, Iranian state media also reported explosions on nearby Siri Island, with no immediate explanation provided.

The developments come amid heightened tensions following the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran, brokered after weeks of regional hostilities.

Iran’s armed forces warned that any violation of the ceasefire would draw what they described as a “regret-inducing” response, according to state media. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the incidents or reported casualties.
