Exploring the Tourism Potential of Failaka Isle and Jleeb

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Technical Committee of the Municipal Council, headed by Dr. Hassan Kamal, yesterday referred to the executive body of Kuwait Municipality a letter by the Acting Mayor of Failaka Abdul Wahab Ali Al-Naqi regarding Failaka Island and the expropriation of Jleeb, as it is absolutely necessary to prepare a study on the matter. The committee also referred for further study the proposal submitted by member Abdullah Al-Anazi regarding the Tourism Enterprises Company (a state-owned company) to address and expedite tourism projects, as well as a proposal submitted by the Head of the Municipal Council Abdullah Al-Mahri regarding the requirements and specifications for labor housing complexes.

In addition, the committee referred to the item related to reallocating the Ministry of Communication’s sites. It also returned to the executive branch the proposal submitted by member Munira Al-Amir regarding establishing a mechanism to resolve disputes between citizens and construction companies, in order to update its response regarding the matter. It referred for discussion a letter submitted by Lawyer Khawla Al-Hassawi regarding increasing the use of the mezzanine floor in a building owned by the Hawally Governorate Committee.

The committee reserved the allocation of three sites to the Ministry of Communication, and the item related to following up the development plan projects of 2023/2024, and the waterfront project Corniche in Jahra, for the Kuwait Municipality. Meanwhile, the Technical Committee of the Municipal Council agreed during its meeting yesterday to respond to the proposal of member Munira Al-Amir regarding setting a time limit for handing over the allocation sites to government agencies. It responded to the proposal of the Municipal Council Head Abdullah Al-Mahri and member Farah Al-Roumi regarding adding the activity of selling flowers and plants to the activity of sweets in commercial areas and buildings for commercial use, in addition to approving the proposal submitted by member Abdullatif Al-Daei regarding providing buses for visitors to cemeteries.
