KUWAIT CITY, July 11: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has seized a container used to store and refurbish used tires and is taking legal action against an expatriate found operating the illegal business, who will be deported from the country.
Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department, said the operation was carried out in cooperation with the Capital Governorate Criminal Investigation Department and the Shuwaikh Industrial Police Station following surveillance by the Capital Inspection Monitoring Department.
Authorities raided a container located in a dirt yard, where inspectors discovered used tires being stored, cleaned, renewed and reconditioned to give them the appearance of higher-quality products, making them more attractive to consumers.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 290 used tires, and legal procedures were initiated against those responsible.
Al-Ansari said the ministry coordinated with Kuwait Municipality to destroy the seized tires at designated landfill sites. It also worked with the Ministry of Interior to take the necessary legal measures against the violating expatriate, including deportation.
He stressed that the Commercial Control Department will continue its inspection campaigns to detect commercial violations, protect consumers, and ensure compliance with approved regulations and standards.
