Expats mark Indian Independence Day in unique way

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: Blood Donors Kerala Kuwait chapter and Kasaragod expatriates association, Fahaheel area committee have jointly celebrated the 74th Independence Day of India by organizing a blood donation camp at the Adan blood transfusion center on August 13.

74 expats donated blood in the event denoting 74th Anniversary of Indian Independence. Independence Day reminds us of all the sacrifices that were made by our freedom fighters to set India free from a foreign rule.

Though, cultural programs and social gatherings weren’t possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than a hundred people from the expatriate community gathered to commemorate the glimpses of the great achievement and to express their solidarity with the health workers, who have been at an unprecedented war front with the epidemic.

KEA central committee president Sathar Kunnil inaugurated the camp, in a function chaired by the KEA Fahaheel area committee president Ashraf Kuchanath. Salam Kalanad, Rajan Thottathil, Reghubal Thengumthundil and Sudhakaran Cherkkala had addressed the gathering. Certificates were also issued to all the 74 donors.

Blood donation camps are being organized by Blood Donors Kerala, Kuwait chapter in cooperation with social organizations, to cope with the shortage of blood and its derivatives in the transfusion centers due to the corona epidemic, strictly adhering to the MoH protocol.
