Expats above sixty to pay KD 1,000 residence renewal fee per year

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: In a new development about expats who are above sixty holding secondary school certificates and below, the Fatwa and Legislation confirmed the legality of the decision on board of directors of Public Authority of Manpower to impose a fee of KD 500 for renewing of work permits.


The sources stated that the decision is pending and the PAM is considering increasing this fee to additional KD 500. The discussion between insurance companies and Ministry of Commerce and Industries officials said the rate of private insurance policy fee will be between KD 500 and KD 550 per year. It is expected that the cost of issuing a work permit including insurance for expats who are sixty and above will be 1,000 KD. Final touches are being made for appropriate law for sixties expats in terms of insurance requirements. 

The sources stated that the Fatwa Board’s decision is expected to also include its opinion regarding the exclusion of some communities and groups from paying work permit renewal fees, reports Al Rai.
