KUWAIT CITY, April 20: In the case of falsifying disability certificates, the Criminal Court sentenced two expatriate employees of the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs (PADA) to seven-year imprisonment followed by deportation. It also sentenced 13 other defendants to two-year imprisonment and ordered that 35 defendants not be punished and a fine of KD 500 be imposed. Lawyer Abdulaziz Arab said the majority of those accused of forgery had “good faith” and that the complaint submitted by PADA was aimed at strengthening its position. He said the ruling is not final and efforts are continuing to amend it before the Court of Appeals, adding that the defense must be unified when filing an appeal against the ruling according to the law, with a statement of the absence of criminal intent. Lawyer Arab indicated that PADA is still reducing disabilities unjustifiably, and this ruling does not allow it to continue canceling the rights owed to those who are disabled.
