KUWAIT CITY, July 24: The Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of the Commercial Court, which obliged a contracting company to pay KD39,000 to an expatriate couple whose son died after falling from a building while working, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The court pointed out the above mentioned amount is ‘blood money’ and compensation for the material and moral damages that the couple suffered due to the death of their son. Lawyer for the couple, Attorney Inaam Haider, demanded for blood money and compensation; arguing that the couple suffered from material and moral damages due to the disruption of their livelihood as their deceased son was the breadwinner. The lawyer also pointed out the pain, heartbreak, anguish and grief the couple had to endure due to the loss of their loved one -- their source of strength and livelihood.
