KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Kuwait Municipality has formed field teams across the country's governorates to monitor the housing of single men, or bachelors, in private and model residential areas and address violations that could affect residents' comfort and the social character of those neighborhoods.

Engineer Nizar Al-Awad, head of the committee overseeing bachelors' housing, said the teams will complement the work of the existing Bachelors Committee. The teams will coordinate with the Ministries of Interior and Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, as well as the Public Authority for Manpower and the Public Authority for the Environment, to ensure rapid action against violations.

Committee rapporteur Engineer Mohammed Al-Jalawi said the teams will submit regular reports detailing violations, including the number of houses found to be housing bachelors in breach of regulations and the progress of enforcement measures.

Property owners found violating the rules could face strict penalties, including warnings, fines and, in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, possible disconnection of electricity. The measures are intended to enforce Law No. 125 of 1992, which prohibits non-family accommodation in private and model residential areas.
