KUWAIT CITY, April 2:The Criminal Court overturned the ruling issued by a lower court to sentence an expatriate to one-year imprisonment with hard labor. The court instead acquitted her of the charges leveled against her for causing the death of a housemaid who underwent difficult prenatal labor pains that led to her death while giving birth.

The Public Prosecution had charged the accused and others of unintentionally causing the death of the victim because of their neglect of the supervision duty entrusted to them, as she underwent a difficult birth, which led to her suffering the injuries described in the forensic medical report that took her life.

During the court session, the defense counsel Lawyer Fahad Al-Hadiya insisted that the charges leveled against his client lacked a direct link to his client as well as any criminal elements. He highlighted the absence of error on the part of the accused and the absence of definitive evidence for attributing the accusation to her. By Jaber Al-Hamoud Al-Seyassah Staff
