WASHINGTON, Apr 8: Iran’s exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi has urged Iranians to remain patient following a two-week ceasefire, saying the Islamic Republic has been weakened, but its repressive apparatus has not been fully dismantled.
Exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi in his video message on social media, said the Islamic Republic has suffered “irreparable blows” over recent weeks, calling its command structure and security apparatus severely weakened, while urging supporters to remain patient and prepared for what he described as a decisive moment.
In a lengthy message addressed to supporters, Pahlavi said he was saluting those who “stood for freedom” over the past 100 days, including those who faced violence and bombardment during demonstrations and unrest.
He acknowledged that reports of a two-week ceasefire involving the Islamic Republic, the United States and Israel had disappointed some supporters, but said it should not be seen as a setback.
Pahlavi claimed that recent developments had significantly damaged Iran’s military and security leadership, including senior commanders across the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Basij, and intelligence services, while saying the state’s command-and-control system had been “paralyzed.”
He further said the Islamic Republic was increasingly isolated and relying on a shrinking base of support, while accusing it of maintaining control through internet restrictions and propaganda.
Despite the weakening of state structures, Pahlavi cautioned that the government’s capacity for repression remained, stressing that he sought a transition that minimizes loss of life. He called on Iranians to remain vigilant and “await the decisive moment,” while reiterating that the final change, he said, must come from within Iran.
