KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: The Kuwait Grand Championship for the sport of fathers and forefathers continued to enjoy strong success as it moved into its fourth day, with yesterday’s events producing intense and thrilling competition among the participating camels.
The camel Al-Tayyari, owned by Fahad Muqbil Al-Ajmi, brought an end to the UAE camels’ winning streak by claiming victory in the Jatha’a Qaad heat. Ezz Malak, owned by Abdullah Obaid Al-Kabti of the UAE, finished second, followed by Mikhlaab, owned by Hamad Al-Nuaimi of the UAE, in third place.
In the Jatha’a Abkar heat, Al-Naifah, owned by Mohammed Talal Al-Ajmi of Kuwait, emerged victorious, while Ghala, owned by Abdullah Mohammed Al-Qafli of the UAE, took second, and Saddab, owned by Rashid Mohammed Al-Qafli, placed third.
Other races produced the following results: Bahr, owned by Saeed Salem Al-Marri of Qatar, won the citizens’ Jatha’a Qaad heat. Shabab, owned by Salem Mohammed Talib of Qatar, came second, with Al-Shariss, owned by Zayed Majdal Al-Otaibi of Kuwait, third. Mardi (Mohammed Talal Al-Ajmi, Kuwait) finished fourth, Al-Faiz (Misfer Mabkhout, Kuwait) fifth, and Al-Sanafi (Hussein Al-Dawas, Kuwait) sixth.
In the Jatha’a Abkar race, Tamooh, owned by Mohammed Kurdi Al-Marri of Qatar, secured first place, followed by Shouda, owned by Sultan Rashid Hamoud Al-Sahli of Kuwait, and Yahala, owned by Rashid Mohammed Al-Faqli, in third.
The heats dedicated to the Sheikhs’ camels were particularly fierce, with the lead changing hands throughout. Qatnah of the Presidential Camels won the opening heat, Maghnoud of Al-Sheehaniya responded by taking the second, and Al-Wazna gave Al-Sheehaniya the advantage in the third. However, Al-Mufriq of the Presidential Camels claimed victory to restore parity, as the contests ended on equal footing.
With the final day approaching, camels from GCC countries and across the Arab world are now gearing up to assert themselves and leave a strong impression in the championship finale.
