KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: The Public Prosecution released former lawmaker Faisal Al-Muslim on bail after interrogating him on the complaint of National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim who considers his tweets and statements offensive, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press statement after leaving the prosecution, Al- Muslim invited Al-Ghanim to a political debate broadcasted on the television channel of his choice. He pointed out that the speaker resorted to the judiciary to fight against his opponents and exclude them from the political scene despite his repeated declaration in front of the media that he respects criticism.
Al-Muslim disclosed that he was summoned for questioning due to old tweets and a thank you letter upon his return from Turkey. He clarified that he criticized Al-Ghanim in his capacity as Assembly speaker, not personal. He added Al-Ghanim is a lawmaker chosen by the nation and then he was elected speaker, so he must respect the Constitution as he is responsible for the most important authority in the country.
