Ex-MP Duwailah acquitted in ‘royal’ slander case

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of broadcasting false news about the entry of a number of Egyptian residents into the country and claiming that they are infected with COVID-19 virus. It also upheld another verdict which acquitted him of charges of using words deemed offensive to the entity of His Highness the Amir, and misusing a smartphone.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with intentionally publishing false news that would destabilize the internal situation of the country, and misusing his phone, as well as posting messages on Twitter that are deemed offensive to the entity of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, and misusing his phone.
