Ex-Kuwait Citizen Arrested for Manufacturing and Trafficking Crystal Meth

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 21: Kuwait’s General Department for Drug Control has arrested a suspect accused of manufacturing, distributing and trafficking methamphetamine (crystal meth), using a livestock pen in the Kabd area as a base for his activities, the Ministry of Interior said.

The operation was conducted under the supervision and in the presence of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Following investigations, surveillance and monitoring of the suspect’s movements, security personnel carried out a planned ambush and arrested him at his residence in Saad Al-Abdullah.

Police seized 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, along with raw materials allegedly used to manufacture psychotropic substances. Cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking was also found hidden in a concealed underground pit.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to manufacturing methamphetamine at a livestock pen in Kabd and admitted that the seized money came from his drug trafficking activities.

The Ministry said the suspect’s Kuwaiti citizenship had previously been revoked because of dual citizenship and possession of another nationality.

Legal procedures have been initiated against the suspect and in relation to the seized items, while authorities are taking steps to remove the facility allegedly used for manufacturing narcotics.

The Interior Ministry reaffirmed its determination to combat drug trafficking and dismantle its sources, stressing that the law would be applied against anyone who threatens Kuwait’s security or endangers its citizens.
