BERLIN, June 15: Spain on Saturday beat the Croat team 3-0 in the first round of Euro 2024 held in Germany. The Spaniards dominated the pitch in the beginning of the match, held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. In the 29th minutes, the Spanish striker Alvaro Morata scored the first goal, followed by another by Fabian Pena. Shortly ahead of end of the first half, the third goal was scored by Daniel Carvajal.

Earlier Switzerland's national soccer team secured an opening victory by beating Hungary 3-1 in the first round of Euro 2024, held in Germany. Kwadwo Duah scored the opener at the 14th minute, followed by the second by Michel Aebischer minutes later, putting the Swiss into a deserved two-goal lead at half-time against the Hungarian squad. Struggling to retain possession, Hungary tried to improve the performance to make a comeback in the second half, finally leading to a goal by Barnabas Varga at the 62nd minute. However, Breel Embolo came off the bench to score the third in added time to seal an opening victory to go level on points with hosts Germany in Group A. (KUNA)
