EU congratulates Sunak on becoming UK PM

BRUSSELS, Oct 24: President of the European Council Charles Michel Monday congratulated Rishi Sunak who will be the UK’s next prime minister after winning the Conservative Party leadership contest. “Congratulation Rishi Sunak on becoming the UK’s Prime Minister,” Michel said on his Twitter message this evening. “Working together is the only way to face common challenges – and bringing stability is key to overcoming them,” he added. Sunak will formally take over as UK PM Tuesday after meeting King Charles, media reports said. UK was a member of the EU before leaving the bloc in January 2020 (KUNA)
